Coaches say that U12 is where players “turn the corner” and are looking like real soccer players. However, games are still frantically paced and a bit unpredictable for the most part. These players know how much fun it is to play the game skillfully. Children may become more competitive, as winning and losing takes on more importance in their lives. Many will begin embracing the challenge of putting their skills to the test. Emphasizing teamwork and full participation is extraordinarily important .
Our season will begin the last week of August. There are generally two practices a week, and one game each weekend. Our first few sessions will be dedicated to evaluating players and developing teams. Practices will be Mondays & Wednesdays from 5:45 to 7:15 pm at the town’s upper field. The children will be divided into teams the first week of September. Game schedules are handled by our partners at the Derry Soccer Club, see their page for details, http://derrysoccerclub.org/recreation-hawks/intertown-schedule
Children should be equipped with shin guards, socks that cover the guard, cleats, a size 4 soccer ball (with your name on it) and a water bottle.
