We need to prepare the fields for the fall season!
Chester recreation is seeking a few individuals with strong backs and a steady gait to volunteer for field crew for the 2021 season. There are two primary jobs- layout and upkeep.
- LAYOUT: This will be laying the lines (with lots of help) once before the season begins,
- UPKEEP: going over the lines weekly as needed from mid August to the last of October.
Join us for Field Preparation Events: Dates TBD (Just Before the Fall Season)
Volunteer for The Season or just pitch in on lining day!
We will take whatever TIME you can give!
Lining Days: On two specific days, designated before the season starts, the volunteers gather to measure and line all the fields that will be used for season. This initial lining takes extra volunteers as each field has to be carefully measured, staked, and lined, so extra volunteers help to make it go smoothly.
“If you have never done it before, the lining of the fields is a ‘soccer spiritual experience!’ says former volunteer Anonymous. “When a grassy area becomes a soccer field, and you go by it week after week, there’s a special feeling you get looking out over the field and knowing the ‘beautiful game’ will be played there, and you helped make that a possibility.”
Who: Neighbors, parents, grandparents, older siblings, soccer players over 13. Must be able to follow directions and walk several soccer fields.
What: Help measure and line some of the town’s 5 soccer fields for the fall season.
When: The Date and Time of these events will be communicated before the event.
Where: The meeting location will be determined about a week before the event. There are 2 fields at the center of town and one large field, plus 2 small fields on the Wason Recreation property.
Why: Because it feels good to give back to the community! Because it’s SOCCER! Because the exercise is good for you! Because this skill would count towards community service hours! Because we need your help!
